Start of the Match
The match shall begin with the flip of a coin between the captains from each team. The winner of the coin flip may have the first toss of the pallino or choose the color of the balls.
Playing the Game
The player who originally tosses the pallino throws the first bocce ball. Their ball is now the closest to the pallino, so the other team throws their bocce balls until they’re closest to the pallino. Teams alternate in this manner until all bocce balls are played. A team rotation is decided before the match and is followed throughout the match.
A pallino knocked out of play will be returned to the playing area closest to the point that it went out of play. Any bocce balls out of play are considered dead balls and cannot count in the scoring.
Scoring
The team with the bocce ball closest to the pallino scores one point for every ball that is closer to the pallino than their opponent. Teams then play another frame from the opposite end until reaching game point. The team who scored last throws the pallino to begin the next frame. Games are played to twelve points.
